Orono Window Repair & Replacement Service

Name: Apex Window Werks
Brand: Apex Window Werks
Rating: 4.8 (3405 reviews)

At Apex Window Werks, we provide expert window and door repair in Orono, MN, serving the estate properties along the northern shoreline of Lake Minnetonka. Oversized and shaped glass, discontinued custom sizes and heavy lake-facing doors are what this work consists of here.

Orono is one of the least densely built cities in the western metro, and its houses reflect that: large, individually designed and full of windows that were made to order rather than bought off a shelf. Arched heads, trapezoidal gable glazing and tall stair windows are routine — and none of them appear in a size chart.

Why Choose Our Orono Window Repair Services?

Templated On Site: Every opening is measured individually and the unit made to that measurement — no catalogue assumptions.
Discontinued Sizes No Obstacle: When a line is no longer produced, the glass is still made to fit your existing sash.
Shaped and Oversized Glass: Arched and trapezoidal units handled by a crew equipped for the weight and geometry.
Serving 55356 and 55391: Covering Orono, Crystal Bay, Navarre and the north Lake Minnetonka shoreline.

A custom frame is the expensive part, and it almost never needs replacing. Contact Apex Window Werks today for professional window and door repair in Orono, MN.

Window Repair, Glass Replacement & Defogging in Orono, Minnesota

Orono wraps around a long stretch of Lake Minnetonka’s northern shoreline and is one of the least densely built cities in the western metro. Large houses sit on wooded acreage, much of the shoreline is private, and a great many of the windows were made to order rather than bought off a shelf. Arched heads, trapezoidal gable glazing, tall stair windows and wide lake-facing walls are all routine here — and none of them are catalogue sizes.

Custom Glass and Estate-Scale Window Work in Orono

Custom houses change how a job runs. Nothing is assumed from a size chart: every opening is templated on site, every unit ordered to that measurement, and hardware matched to the original line wherever it is still supported. Shaped and oversized glass takes longer to source and needs a crew equipped to handle the weight safely, so we template early and schedule the installation once the glass has arrived. Access on private drives is arranged in advance. Serving 55356 and 55391.

Orono has some of the largest lakefront glazing on Lake Minnetonka, and those units bring real practical constraints. Big panes are heavy, frequently have to be tempered to meet code, and need proper lifting equipment and enough hands to fit safely. None of that is improvised on the day; it is established at the survey so the fitting visit goes cleanly and the glass is not sitting on site waiting for the right crew.

Matching matters unusually much on these houses. When a single unit in a long lake-facing run has failed, we match the glass type and any low-emissivity coating to the neighbouring units, because a mismatched pane reads differently in reflection and is obvious from the water as well as from the drive. The water-facing elevation of an Orono house also ages faster than the rest of it — more sun, more wind, more driving rain — so checking the seals on that side every couple of years is genuinely the cheapest maintenance available. Work is carried out discreetly, to arranged times, with interiors protected and the site left clean.

Harsh winters along the Lake Minnetonka north shore put constant pressure on windows and doors, as ice dams, wind, and freeze-thaw cycles find every weak point in a seal. In the Navarre area of Orono, that steady stress loosens glazing and warps frames over time. Our process begins with a free on-site assessment, so you understand the problem before committing to anything, and we repair first to keep full replacement off the table when it isn’t needed. Most repairs wrap up in one visit, with the workspace cleaned afterward. Hennepin County homeowners are left with tight, smooth openings that stand up to winter, backed by workmanship we stand behind.

Apex Window Werks also serves nearby Wayzata, Mound and Minnetonka.

Reviews

Apex experts came by quickly, were professional, and finished the estimate on the spot. The office followed up with me over the next few weeks as I wasn't ready to make a decision. I then affirmed to move ahead, they scheduled within a week. The installation crew was polite, and professional and did great work. The cost was a good value for the work done. I would highly recommend it. I'm delighted to have my two windows fixed. The one I can open again and the other I can see clearly out again.

Apex Window Werks replaced the foggy glass on our kitchen window. They carefully removed the old glass pane and installed a new one, ensuring precise measurements and using silicone to secure it properly. From the first person I spoke to on the phone, to the couple of gentlemen who installed the glass, everyone was easy to talk to and they were all very professional. Highly recommended!

Ofelia Miguel, Joliet, IL

Service technicians were polite and professional. They removed damaged parts of the window, cut new pieces to fit, stained the wood, and installed them nicely. The team cleaned up as if they were never there. I would recommend Apex Windows Werks for your window repair. Friends living near me ordered window repairs based on my recommendation as well.

Glenn Kaupert Chicago, IL

Had someone come out to look at a few windows I’m having issues with - none of them needed a full frame replacement at the moment but the technician was incredibly kind and informative. The technician determined that replacing the entire window frame was not necessary, which saved me both time and money. I feel confident about caring for my current windows, I know what to look for to let me know replacements are needed, and I will definitely be coming back to Apex when that is the case. Thank you!

Alyssa Nickow, Elgin, IL

I was thrilled that Apex Windows Werks had the right parts, and was able to come right out and repair my window on site. They were very prompt, and they saved me quite a bit of money over the replacement quote I got from another window company that didn’t do repairs.

FAQs about
windows & doors repair

The manufacturer no longer makes my window size. What now?

This is the normal situation on Orono custom builds and it is not a problem. We template the opening on site and have the insulated glass unit made to that exact measurement, then fit it into your existing sash. The frame and sightlines are untouched.

Do you handle arched and trapezoidal glass?

Yes. Shaped units are made from a site template and installed by a crew equipped for the weight and geometry. We template as early as possible, because made-to-order shaped glass has a longer lead time than a rectangular unit.

Can you work around private drives and shoreline access?

Yes. We confirm access arrangements before scheduling the crew, so the visit runs to plan and nothing is held up on the day.

Can you handle very large lakefront glazing?

Yes. Orono has some of the largest window walls on Lake Minnetonka, and those units are heavy, sometimes need tempering by code and require proper lifting equipment. All of that is arranged before the visit rather than improvised.

Will replacement glass match the rest of the elevation?

Yes. We match the glass type and any low-emissivity coating to the neighbouring units so the new pane does not read differently in reflection. On a wall of lake-facing glass a mismatched panel is obvious from the water.

Do lakefront windows need more maintenance than inland ones?

They do. The water-facing elevation takes far more wind, sun and driving rain, and ages visibly faster than the sheltered sides of the same house. Checking seals on that side every couple of years is the cheapest maintenance there is.

How discreet is the work?

We work to arranged times, protect finished interiors, keep the site tidy and clear up fully. Where a sash needs stripping it is taken off site, so that part of the work never happens at the house.

What areas in and around Orono do you cover for window and door repair?
